Welcome

Hello and welcome to Hitchens Debates Transcripts!

Here at HDT you will find transcripts of public debates, interviews, and discussions in which journalist and anti-theist Christopher Hitchens engages believers in the grandest of all questions: Does God exist? Is Christianity good for the world? Is Perrier the best delivery system for Johnnie Walker Black?

Wake up those small prefrontal lobes and get ready to gloat over the misfortunes of others as Hitchens crosses swords with the likes of evidentialist William Lane Craig, the-guy-who-blames-the-American-cultural-left-for-9/11 Dinesh D'Souza, professional screamer Rabbi Schmuley Boteach, the Mormon-lovin' Al Sharpton, and even his baby brother Peter.

Hitch has recently been diagnosed with esophageal cancer and we wish him the speediest of recoveries.

Cheers, Hitch.

Sincerely,
HitchBitch

  2. Marvellous – Thanks
Reading give reader like me more time to think, particular with Mr. Hitchens’s provoking-thoughts

  3. Thank you for this blog. The ability to see the exact words of these debates. I reviewed the Turek debate. Hitchen's arguments were logical fallacies, mostly appeal "types" arguments, aka Red Herring type of arguments.

  6. His brother chose his own way, that doesn't make him stupid. Atheism, like everything else, has its flaws and it's nothing more than a speculation. The least unfounded speculation out there, though. Besides, Craig had some points in his arguments, and you know that. Anyway, I'm atheist myself, but I value religion. (Except Islam and Satanism)

    1. 'Atheism...it's nothing more than speculation.' Yes, in the sense that not believing in Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy and the Flying Spaghetti Monster is nothing more than speculation.

Please. Not believing in something because there is not a shred of evidence for it is not 'speculation,' it is good, sound common sense. It is using one's ability to reason. And I have yet to find a single flaw in it. Maybe you could list a few?

    2. like Growbad said herein, the *Atheism ... it's nothing more than a speculation.* comment is a fallacy. THEISM IS NOTHING MORE THAN SPECULATION, AND ATHEISM IS ITS LOGICAL COUNTER.

so, please, sir/madam anonymous (such a cowardly cognomen), expand on what you *value* about religion; enlighten us. and while you're at it, provide examples of WLC's *points* -- don't tell us *you know that*; THAT is not a valid statement; it's an unfounded pronouncement. or merely list a few, again, seconding Growbag.

  8. This is a truly amazing place for me to go when I need a fix of the Hitch. I only recently learned about him, a few months ago, so that means quite a while after he passed away, and I found myself shedding manly tears over his loss. Due to his unmatched tactical debating skills and limitless wisdom, he will forever be remembered as one of the greatest orators of all time, the greatest fighter against all totalitarianism, and for his wit. He was an inspiration to all secularists (and human beings in general); a truly remarkable and wonderful man. We miss you, brother!

  9. Thank you for all this! Great monument to a great man who had courage to speak out!
Question: will you also be putting up the debate between Christopher Hitchens and Tim Rutten, June 4th 2007? Hitchens is (as always) great!

  18. Excellent work guys, this is a real value to the community. Out of curiosity, do we know where the largest archive (video/audio) of Hitchens lectures resides? I found this but not sure if it is the biggest. I'm guessing he must have thousands of speeches/debates.

  19. Hi, good blog!
There's an old debate I saw on ytube and can't find it. It is one which has someone on the audience who asks Hitchens something like 'Do you believe on what you say?'.
Man, that was very funny!!! Do you know which debate is or how can find it?

  21. i am thrilled to have had this blog recommended to me. i often link to Hitch's debates and talks, not as definitive arguments but as valuable additions to Critical Thought. i miss him more than i miss all my dearly-departed loved ones, and i'm not ashamed to admit that. he is the Socrates that i always wanted for a pedagogue, and i am so thrilled to have lived while he lived and to know that i was living in the Age of Hitch. his death diminished me, as John Donne points out in "For Whom the Bell Tolls" -- it was untimely but not unexpected, what with esophageal cancer and his family medical history. i will forever consider him the Epitome of Civilized Homo Sapiens.

  22. p.s. Hitch can't contribute to the Great Conversation anymore, but his sinecure on social media is solid and will be enduring.

  25. I was diagnosed as HEPATITIS B carrier in 2013 with fibrosis of the
liver already present. I started on antiviral medications which
reduced the viral load initially. After a couple of years the virus
became resistant. I started on HEPATITIS B Herbal treatment from
ULTIMATE LIFE CLINIC (www.ultimatelifeclinic.com) in March, 2020. Their
treatment totally reversed the virus. I did another blood test after
the 6 months long treatment and tested negative to the virus. Amazing
treatment! This treatment is a breakthrough for all HBV carriers.
